1000 exabytes equals one zetabyte.

Examples

  • The annual Internet traffic in 2007 was estimated at between 5 and 9 exabytes.
  • The annual traffic in 2015 is estimated at 2021 exabytes.
  • The Internet size in 2009 (understood as global digital storage) was estimated at about 500 exabytes.
  • In 2015 it was estimated that by 2025 Twitter will require between 0.001 to 0.017 EB of storage space, while YouTube will require between 1 and 2 EB per year. In terms of science, astronomy will require worldwide 1 EB of storage per year, and the genomics between 2-40 EB per year.
