The Evening Standard (also known as the London Evening Standard) is an evening newspaper published in London, England. First published as The Standard on 21 May 1827.

Changed to its original name for a short period in the 1990s.

In the early 20th century, the newspaper belonged to a Canadian magnate, Max Aitken, who also owned the Daily Express newspaper.

In June 2002, the newspaper was published five daily editions, Monday through Friday, and selling 429,851 copies per day.
