The European Organization for Space Research (OEIE or ESRO, from English European Space Research Organization and in French, the other official language, Conseil Européen de Recherche Spatiale) was a European organization dedicated to studying outer space. It was founded in 1962 by Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, the United Kingdom, Sweden and Switzerland.

ESRO successfully launched several satellites into orbit, using American launchers, specialized in observing the Sun and its influences on Earth. Unlike its "sister" organization, the ELDO, it did not have serious problems and was a sign that European cooperation in this field could work. It was replaced by ESA
