Erec y Enide, a novel by Manuel Vázquez Montalbán, is -in a way- a reinterpretation of Erec et Enide, the first romance of the Arthurian cycle by Chrétien de Troyes.

The author analyzes three solitudes: that of Julio Matasanz, an emeritus professor specializing in medieval literature; that of his wife, Madrona, and that of the couple formed by Myriam and Pedro (the latter, godson of the previous two). It is a narrative in which sensitivity and social denunciation are mixed.
