Erebango is a municipality in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. It belongs to the Northwest Rio-Grandense Mesoregion and the Erechim Microregion. Creation Date: April 11, 1988

Erebango is the homeland of two gaúchos of national importance. Maurício Sirotsky Sobrinho, founder of the RBS Group, the largest communications and media group in southern Brazil, and Odacir Klein, a politician who was a councilor, mayor, federal deputy and minister of state for agriculture.

History

Getúlio Vargas was divided into five districts, including, Erebango, Ipiranga, Getúlio Vargas Station, Floriano Peixoto and Souza Ramos. In 1979, there were a lot of rumors, rumors that Getúlio Vargas Station intended to form a new municipality, separating itself from Getúlio Vargas, in whose emancipated zone there would also be the areas of the districts of Erebango and Ipiranga. From this date until mid-1981, the rumors were not confirmed.

Interviewed Mr. Paulo L. Dreier, who was then President of the Chamber of Councilors of the City of Getúlio Vargas, recalled the events he experienced: Due to the rumors that have arisen again, a committee was formed made up of the mayor at the time José Darcy Peruzzolo, deputy mayor Bruno Valdo Klein, President of the Arena party, Clovis Valadares and the president of the Chamber of City Councilors Paulo L. Dreier, who went to Porto Alegre to the Legislative Assembly to check the real facts on the topic. In the Constitution and Justice Commission, they were presented in documents dated November 6, 1979, which confirmed all the rumors about the emancipation of Getúlio Vargas Station.

On the return to Erebango, an open meeting was held for the Erebango population at the Union Club to register a protest and a desire not to be part of a new municipality, since Erebango always had representatives of the Administration of Getúlio Vargas, and his claims and requests are always fulfilled and he decided to remain linked to the municipality of Getúlio Vargas. If the event was consummated in protest Erebango towards a movement to belong to the municipality of Erechim.

For a time the rumors calmed down, since none of the districts of Getúlio Vargas reached the legal requirement in terms of population, revenue and other items to become a municipality.

It was a total surprise when the knowledge of State Law No. 8253 of November 12, 1986, authorized the plebiscite for the creation of the new municipality. The leaders of the Ipiranga and Erebango districts moved again, holding assemblies, committees and petitions from the people who were always against being part of a new municipality. Both Ipiranga and Erebango appointed Mr. Oscar Breno Stahnke through a lawyer to represent them in the request to demand the unconstitutionality of that law (the undersigned with the final signature).

At the beginning of 1987, on the eve of the political campaign of the municipal administration of Getúlio Vargas, divergences and disagreements continued between the political supporters of the districts. To carry out a conciliation or an agreement to meet the will of all, Mr. Helio Musskopf, President of the Municipal Studies Commission, accompanied by the deputy Antonio Lorenzi suggested the emancipation of the three districts, each with its own area and both They presented the proposals to the Legislative Assembly, which was chaired by Mr. Algir Lorenzon. The three districts were surprised by the proposal, but somewhat satisfied, they organized their Emancipation Committees and other documents to request the plebiscites. The documents submitted in a timely manner, due to the approaching elections, were reviewed and approved and the authorization to consult the population regarding the desire for emancipation of the districts were covered in Erebango by Law No. 8368 of 29 September 1987. (minutes of the emancipation commission and a copy of the law)
