Enrique Batiz
Enrique Bátiz Campbell (Mexico City, May 4, 1942), known in the art world as Enrique Bátiz, is a Mexican conductor. He was a child musical prodigy, and at the age of five he gave his first public performance on the piano.[citation needed]
He worked as a conductor at the Mexico City Philharmonic Orchestra, and for many years directed the Mexico State Symphony Orchestra, which he founded in 1971 and from which he announced in February 2018 that he would retire, due to circumstances of health. He has performed as guest conductor of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.[citation needed]
He has recorded works such as the 1812 Overture, Ernani, Carmen, Rigoletto, The Messiah , The Planets, Pagliacci, La Traviata, Swan Lake, Madame Butterfly, Beethoven's nine symphonies, Tchaikovsky's six and the orchestral work of Joaquín Rodrigo, as well as the most representative Mexican symphonic repertoire. His discography includes more than 100 orchestral recordings.[citation needed ]
He has also hosted television programs about music, such as the series on the work of Arthur Rubinstein, a Polish pianist.[citation needed]
