ENFOPOL (from English «Enforcement Police», «reinforcement police») is a system of interception of communications of the European Union that arises as a response to the ECHELON megasystem, owned by the United States, the United Kingdom and several member countries of the Commonwealth.

The code name Enfopol (Enforcement Police - Reinforcement Police) refers to the standardization plan for the interception of telecommunications in Europe, the United States, Australia and other countries. Enfopol was born in Brussels in 1995, as a series of technical requirements for telephone operators to adapt their systems, before eventual demands of "punctures" by the police. Then, according to the British magazine that uncovered the secret "Statewatch", Enfopol was called "EU-FBI system" and linked "various law enforcement agencies such as the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), police, customs, immigration and homeland security". In 1998, officials from the European Ministries of the Interior began discussing the extension of this system to the Internet, satellite telephony, and new forms of telecommunication.
