Endor (Star Wars)

Endor is a fictional non-inhabitable planet in the Star Wars universe, known for its moon.

Endor is located in the Moddell Sector. It is a gas giant, and therefore not habitable. It is orbited by seven main satellites, among which stands out a moon covered by dense forests, plains and swamps. The action of the movies is set on this moon of Endor, called Sanctuary Moon by Emperor Palpatine (his code name for the Empire) or just Endor, like the planet. Home planet of the Ewoks, the biggest battle of the Civil War took place on Endor, in which the Death Star II was destroyed, Palpatine and Darth Vader (now redeemed and turned into Anakin Skywalker) were defeated (apart from other important figures of the Empire such as Grand Admiral Nial Declann or Admiral Firmus Piett); thus allowing the Alliance to split the Empire, which would contribute to its eventual downfall and the New Republic,

Although in the Expanded Universe it is explained that there are also desert areas on this satellite.
