Elvis Crespo
Elvis Crespo Díaz (New York City, New York; July 30, 1971), is an American singer of Puerto Rican descent.
Biography
Crespo was born in New York City, United States, son of Puerto Ricans Diomedes Crespo and Irene Díaz, both chefs, and was named Elvis in homage to Elvis Presley. He was raised in the city of Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, where He spent most of his childhood and adolescence.
First groups
At 17 years old he joined Willie Berrios' orchestra. From there he went on to join other groups, among which was the merengue player Toño Rosario.
Later, seeking to complement his artistic career with a formal education, he entered the Metropolitan University of Puerto Rico, where he studied Business Administration. But when the opportunity arose to join the Grupo Manía quartet as lead vocalist, Elvis took advantage of the moment, for three years moments of glory with this popular merengue group.

In full artistic evolution, Elvis decides to begin a new stage in his career and launches as a soloist with his own orchestra. When making this momentous decision, he was fortunate to have the unconditional support of his record company 'Sony'. With his debut album as a soloist in the merengue genre, the production & # 34; Suavemente & # 34; It became one of the great successes of the Hispanic industry internationally.
Suavemente broke sales records both in Puerto Rico and abroad, placing Elvis Crespo in an important place in the pentagram of Caribbean music. His production was nominated for the 1999 Grammy Award in the 'Best Tropical Music Album' category. And although Ricky Martin won the precious award on that occasion, the Puerto Rican merengue player won numerous awards internationally, as well as it was recognized by the House of Representatives of Puerto Rico.
For the sake of his successful Suavemente, Elvis Crespo sold out a successful season at the San Juan Fine Arts Center. But with the launch of the production 'Píntame', the Puerto Rican merengue player marked his definitive consecration in the international market.

Traveling from one end to the other in America, his songs strongly dominated the musical staff of 1999. The success of "Píntame" was followed by his interpretation of the song "hora enamorada" #3. 4;. Given this, in Venezuela he was awarded the Diamond Orchid award for being the most applauded artist during the celebration of the Orchid Festival on the Venevisión television channel. Making a leap from the Southern Cone to the Old World, Elvis has begun to make an impact with his music in Spain, as well as in Italy and Belgium. And back in the Caribbean, the Dominican Republic, birthplace of merengue, has given him its blessing by having him as one of the guest stars during the festivities at the beginning of the millennium.
At a time when his international career is at its peak, the nomination for a second Grammy has made Elvis one of the most important Puerto Rican artists in merengue. Marking the new century with the opening of the merengue category at the Grammy, Elvis Crespo was crowned the winner during the last award ceremony which, for the world of recording, is equivalent to the cinematographic Oscar.
On May 25, 2013 he held a concert in La Ceiba, Honduras where about 30,000 people attended in celebration of the international carnival of friendship.

After 25 years since the release of "Suavemente", the singer Bad Bunny released his music video "Neverita" in which, according to the same video, a tribute is paid to the iconic material that Elvis Crespo would release in 1998. In the material, some movements and animations very similar to those used in the original video of Crespo's song are imitated from the clothes.. According to his own statements, he would never have imagined that "someone like Bad Bunny was going to be influenced by the video to present a song."
Private life
In 2008 he divorced his wife Ana Ceruto, when she learned that the singer had three children out of wedlock, with three different partners. He married again in 2009 with Maribel Vega.
