Ellen Barkin
Ellen Barkin (Bronx, New York, April 16, 1954) is an American actress.
Biography
The actress's full name is Ellen Rona Barkin. Her father was a chemical salesman and her mother a hospital administrator. From the age of twelve she enrolled in a prestigious school in New York, where she taught acting. She subsequently studied ancient history and dramatic arts at the university. She also attended acting seminars at the famous Actor's Studio.
Barkin made her acting debut at the age of 26 in a New York stage production. She acted in two more plays until her film opportunity arose when she was offered the role of the clumsy wife in Barry Levinson's film Diner in 1982. The following year she already made several films, the first as the daughter of Robert Duvall in Tender Mercies . As she became an established actress, Barkin tried to carefully choose her roles in the movies. In this way, she intervened in films starring actors such as Jack Nicholson or Al Pacino and who had considerable success among the public. In addition to cinema, Barkin has been involved in numerous films and television miniseries.
Barkin married the well-known actor Gabriel Byrne in 1988, with whom she had two children. The couple divorced five years later. In 2000 Barkin married again, this time to the owner of Revlon, the perfume company.
