Elizabeth Perkins
Elizabeth Ann Perkins (November 18, 1960, Queens, New York, United States) is an American film, television, and theater actress. Nominated for the Golden Globes, the Emmy Awards and the Screen Actors Guild Awards. Known for her appearances in films such as Big (1988), The Flintstones (1994), 28 Days (2000), The Ring Two (2005) and the television series Weeds (2005-2009).
Biography
Elizabeth Perkins was born on November 18, 1960 in Queens, New York, United States and grew up in the state of Vermont. Her father wrote for Playboy, The Saturday Evening Post and Times Mirror Co, so her secret ambition has always been to be a writer. After finishing her university studies, she lived for three years in the city of Chicago, where she studied acting at the famous Goodman School for Drama.Back to New York, she took part in her first play in 1984. Later she worked with several theater companies, and since then she has considered the theater as her professional priority.She has been married twice, the first one with fellow actor Terry Kinney (1984-1988), divorcing October 10th. Later she married Julio Macat on June 17, 2000. She also has a daughter named Hannah Jo Phillips, born on September 1, 1991, however, she is not the fruit of either of the two marriages, but the father is the director Maurice Phillips.
Career
Elizabeth Perkins landed her first major role in the film Big (1988), starring Tom Hanks, being well received by the specialized press and grossing more than $151 million at the worldwide box office. A year later, he starred in the romantic comedy He Said, She Said with Kevin Bacon and Sharon Stone. The greatest success of her career came with the film adaptation of The Flintstones titled The Flintstones (1994), in which she played the character of Vilma, in which she shared the bill with John Goodman, Rick Moranis, Rosie O'Donnell and Halle Berry. The film was not well received by the critical majority but it was a great success totaling more than 340 million dollars. for Melanie Griffith and the drama 28 Days (2000), in which she played Sandra Bullock's older sister. She would also lend her voice to the animated film Finding Nemo (2003), which won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature Film and grossed more than $860 million at the worldwide box office.
She would participate in supporting roles in The Ring Two (2005), starring Naomi Watts, in which she played Dr. Emma Temple, and in the romantic comedy Must Love Dogs (2005), in which he appeared with John Cusack and Diane Lane, playing the latter's sister. In 2005 he began shooting the television series Weeds, which earned him several nominations for the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress in a Series, Miniseries or TV Movie, for the Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Cast in a Television Series - Comedy and the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Series - Comedy.
