Eddie gil
Eddie Conde Gil v. (February 7, 1944 in Masbate), artistically and politically known as Eddie Gil, is a Filipino politician, businessman and singer. He ran for his country's presidential elections in 2004. However, he was disqualified from his duties by the Electoral Commission, due to his inability to launch a national campaign and as an "annoying candidate". Eddie Gil appealed his disqualification to the Supreme Court of the Philippines, where he had been confirmed. Being a prominent billionaire and self-proclaimed candidate for the presidential elections, he had promised his companions to pay off the national debt with his own finances. But the most embarrassing fact in one of his promotional missions caused in Mindanao, especially Cagayan de Oro, Eddie Gil could not afford a prestigious hotel to stay. Many people ridiculed him for his run for president and his involvement in politics, which was to promote his upcoming record album.
In June 2010, Eddie Gil was arrested along with three other people on the island of Mauritius on charges of fraud. Eddie Gil and the three detainees appealed the case and on August 10, 2011, after reviewing the case determined by two judges such as S. Domah and S. Bhaukaurally, of the Mauritius Supreme Court, they could not admit that the appellants had a fair trial, in which they had been brought to be judged. For all these reasons, they allowed the appeal. The sentence was imposed on Gil and the other detainees before the Supreme Court of Justice of Mauritius.
