The Province of the Eastern Cape (English: Eastern Cape Province) is a province of South Africa, which was formed from the eastern part of the Province of the Cape and the former Bantustans of Transkei and Ciskei. Its capital is Bhisho which encompasses the old King Williams Town. Some important cities in the province are Aliwal North, East London, Gqeberha, Mthatha and Grahamstown.

The oldest university in the country is in Grahamstown.

The population reached 6.56 million inhabitants in 2011, being 87.6% black (mainly Xhosa), 7.4% mestizos ("coloureds"), 4.7% white and 0.3% Asian.

The province has two of the largest cities in the country, Gqeberha (1.15 million inhabitants) and East London (755,000 inhabitants).
