Duke of Mantua

The Duke of Mantua is a character in the opera Rigoletto by Giuseppe Verdi. History remembers Enrico Caruso and Francesco Tamagno as the best known interpreters of him. More recently, the interpretations of Luciano Pavarotti and Plácido Domingo (conducted by Georg Solti with the English Chamber Orchestra (ECO)) are famous.

The Duchy of Mantua was part of what is now Italy.
