Douglas Rushkoff (New York, February 18, 1961, aged 61) is an American writer, columnist, and professor of virtual culture at New York University. Psychonaut, he is one of the main cyberpunk theorists.

A regular contributor to Times magazine and the New York Times newspaper.

He is quoted in the anime Serial Experiments Lain as stating that due to the Schumann Resonance, humans will become the neurons of the planet, thus awakening the consciousness of the human species.
