Dinopolis
Dinópolis is a cultural, scientific and leisure park dedicated to paleontology and the world of dinosaurs located in Teruel, Spain. It is made up of a main park, Dinópolis, located in the capital, and seven other sites distributed in various locations in the province of Teruel, where there have been paleontological findings. Since the opening of its main headquarters, on June 1, 2001, to December 2007, more than 2,700,000 people have visited it.
Dinopolis Territory
Dinópolis Territory is made up of a large park, Dinópolis Teruel (inaugurated in 2001), in the capital Teruel and seven museums located in as many towns in the province: Inhóspitak (opened in 2003) in Peñarroya de Tastavins, Legendark (opened in 2003) in Galve, Ambarina Region (opened in 2004) in Rubielos de Mora, Bosque Pétreo (opened in 2006) in Castellote, Mar Nummus (opened in 2008), in the town of Albarracín, Titania (opened in 2012) in Riodeva and Valcaria (opened in 2015) in Ariño.
Features
Within the Dinópolis Territory, there is the Conjunto Paleontológico de Teruel-Dinópolis Foundation (Dinópolis Foundation), currently made up of nine paleontologists and a restorer. It was created in 1998, by the Government of Aragon, with the aim of generating and advising the exhibition contents of all the parks that make up Territorio Dinópolis. One of its main approaches is to investigate, preserve and disseminate the paleontological heritage, mainly through the Dinópolis Territory, but also through articles and publications in all kinds of media.
Dinópolis Territory opened its doors in June 2001, promoted by the Government of Aragon through the Aragonese Development Institute (IAF), with the aim of promoting the tourism and leisure sector taking advantage of the paleontological wealth of the province of Teruel. So far the investment in this new concept of cultural, scientific and leisure park exceeds 38 million euros.
Exhibits
Dinópolis (Teruel) has various contents:
- Paleontological Museum, consisting of 4 rooms: Aquatic world, Dinosaurs, Extinction and Mammals.
- Thematic tours such as "The Journey in Time" or "The Last Minute".
- Cinema 3D
- Terra Colossus, 4D virtual simulator.
- Paleosenda, which simulates an excavation and paleontological camp.
- Sauriopark, children's theme area.
- Tierra Magna, thematic area where recreations are found in the natural size of dinosaurs found in the province of Teruel.
- Animation shows: «The Club of Palaeontologists», «The T-rex Show», «Cara a cara!», «A Dream World» and «Turol Jones and the Time Machine».
- Restaurante Territorium, Mesón de Dinoel y Rocabar.
