Dinochloa is a genus of herbaceous plants in the Poaceae family. It is native to Southeast Asia, India, and Malaysia.

Taxonomy

The genus was described by Lodewijk Hendrik Buse and published in Plantae Junghuhnianae 387. 1854. The type species is: Dinochloa tjankorreh (Schult.) Büse.

Etymology

The name of the genus derives from the Greek deinós (wonderful) and chloé (grass), alluding to its size.

Cytology

Base number of the chromosome, x = 12. 2n = 72.
