Digivice
Digivice (デジヴァイス Dejivaisu; short for Digital Device), is a fictional device created for the Digimon franchise. In the anime and manga series, this artifact is carried by humans who are raising a Digimon, or who are partners with one. The Digivice has the special characteristic of connecting, in some way, the feelings of its bearer and his digimon. Although it is said that the main ability of a Digivice is to allow digimon to temporarily evolve to their most powerful phases, (a method known as Blast Evolution), some of the existing versions do not have this feature. Their origin differs according to each anime or manga series, but they are generally created by superior beings from the Digital World, or by digital beings with superior intelligence.
In real life, Digivices are a line of toys, based on the gadgets that appear in the anime, as part of extensive Digimon merchandising. They use a technology similar to that of the V-Pets, although they differ from these since they are not breeders, but are adventure-type games.
Types of Digivices
Digivices used in the Anime
Digivice (original)
The Digivices created in the Digimon Adventure continuity, with a lesser role in Digimon 02. These Digivices were created by the Guardians (the group Gennai belonged to). Its function is to channel the emotions of the DigiDestined to make their Digimon evolve to the Adult (Champion) level. Using them in conjunction with other items, such as Emblems, it is possible for Digimon to evolve to Perfect level, and in the case of Taichi (Tai) and Yamato (Matt) to evolve directly to Mega level.
As basic functions, the Digivice has a built-in clock/calendar and a radar system that allows it to detect other Digivices. In addition, the original Digivices possessed a charge of holy energy that protected their wielders from evil Digimon by making force fields, or removing any type of evil force from a Digimon's body (such as Black Wheels). The original Digivices had the ability to create light whips or force fields to repel the most powerful Evil Digimon. In the second season, the holder of an original Digivice was able to use the already opened Digi-Ports.
This Digivice is used by the first DigiDestined and by the International DigiDestined. It is also known that Ken Ichijouji had one on his first trip to the Digital World, and Ryō Akiyama used one in the first two games of the WonderSwan continuity games. In Digimon World: Digital Card Battle, Hiro also receives one of these Digivices.
D-3
The D3 are the Digivices used by the new DigiDestined in Digimon 02; they were created by the Sacred Beasts to counter the power of the Digimon Kaiser's Dark D-3. According to Koshiro (Izzy), D-3 comes from "Digivolution, Detect and Discover" (Digitize, Detect and Discover in the original), because in addition to all the functions of the original Digivice, the D-3 has the ability to detect and use the Digimentals. In addition, the D-3 is capable of allowing "DNA Evolution" (Jogress Evolution in the original version).
The big difference between a D-3 and a normal Digivice is the fact that the D-3 has the ability to open portals between the Real World and the Digiworld, known as Digi-Ports, using computers in the Real World or televisions in the Digital World.
The Dark D-3 used by the Digimon Kaiser had a different origin, as it was born from a normal Digivice, submerged in the Dark Ocean of the Digiworld. He possesses a unique additional ability: by emitting a coded signal, he can nullify a Digimon's evolution. During his role as Digimon Kaiser, Ken used the Black Towers to broadcast this signal throughout the entire Digiworld. The only evolution that cannot be nullified by this sign is Armor Evolution.
The first D-3 wielders, Daisuke (Davis), Miyako (Yolei) and Iori (Cody), originally received this Digivice, while Takeru (T.K.) and Hikari (Kari) evolved their normal Digivice into D- 3 when they got their Digimentals. At the end of the second season, the new generation of DigiDestined obtained D-3 as their flagship Digivice.
Terminal-D
It is not considered as a Digivice itself, the D-Terminal is a kind of mini-computer that allows the storage of data, to save the Digimentals and serves as a communicator for the boys. It is used by the protagonists of the second season.
D-Arc
The D-Arc (D-Power in the US version, Digi-Power in some Spanish versions) is the Digivice used by the protagonists of Digimon Tamers, its name is an anagram of "Card" (letter in English). According to Konaka (Digimon Tamers scriptwriter) the D-Arc is based on the concept of the Dynabook[1], a kind of children's laptop. While it has the functions of a normal Digivice, the D-Arc is quite different in many ways.
The first is its ability to read Digimon's game cards, sending data from them to the Digimon of the protagonists. It can even read and convert normal drawings made on paper to data. The most common use of this system was to empower Digimon with new abilities or to trigger the evolution process to the adult level. By using the power of Calumon in conjunction with the blue card, a card that has a special code, it is possible for the protagonists to achieve the evolution to the perfect body. Only four of the protagonists of the series (Takato, Jenrya (Henry), Ruki (Rika) and Ryo) were able to use their D-Arc to fuse with their Digimon through the "Matrix Evolution", thus obtaining the Mega body.
It can also deploy a small radar in a circular shape, which allows it to track nearby Digimon, scan the data of the Digimon the protagonists are facing, or see what the Digimon are seeing.
Takato and Ruki's D-Arcs were created when they scanned a blue card into their card readers. Jenrya got hers through her PC's reader, while the other tamers got theirs through the Digi-Gnomes. Ryo's D-Arc has the ability to create a whip of light, although it is unknown if this ability is exclusive or can be used by all D-Arcs. Eventually, Takato's D-Arc is destroyed, but he gets a new one, the Ultimate D-Arc, whose functions do not vary from the original D-Arc.
D Scan
The D-Scan (D-Tector in the US version) is the Digivice used by the protagonists of Digimon Frontier. Its main function is to store the Spirits of the 10 Warriors, and allow the protagonists to use them to evolve into Hybrid Digimon. Another of the main functions is to scan Digi-Codes, both for Digimon and for things or places in the Digiworld. The D-Tectors could also be used as communicators, since in the beginning, the protagonists received Ophanimon's instructions through his D-Tectors. This system also allows the boys to communicate with their Spirits.
The D-Tectors were given to the boys by Ophanimon, who modified their mobiles, except for Koichi's D-Tector, which came from his brother's. Takuya and Kôji's D-Tectors were upgraded twice: first by Seraphimon, allowing them to use "Double Spirit Evolution" and the second by Ophanimon, transforming them into D-Scan Kaiser Mode AND D-Scan Magna Mode allowing them to use "Hyper Spirit Evolution".
Digivice iC
The Digivice iC (Data Link Digivice in the US version) is the Digivice used by the protagonists of Digimon Savers. "iC" is an acronym for "Interactive Communicator" (Interactive Communicator). The main function of this Digivice is to use the Digisoul through the command Digisoul Charge for evolution to the Adult stage and Full Digisoul Charge to evolve into the perfect body (Digisoul is known DNA in the Latin version). Thanks to this, the Digimon can evolve using the emotions of its partner as a source of energy. In episode 28, Masaru (Marcus), Touma (Thomas), and Yoshino managed to manifest the true nature of their Digisoul, causing their Digivices to shatter upon receiving it. However, this does not happen later with the Digivices of Ikuto (Keenan) and Satsuma (Sampson), being able to use the command Digisoul Charge! Overdrive, which allows Digimon to evolve into the Mega body.
Another of the basic functions of this Digivice is to be able to store a Digimon inside.
Kurata uses a modified version of the Digivice iC, which allows him to control Gizmon, using fake Digisoul. Kurata also created another version of the iC, which he gave to Kouki, Nanami, and Ivan. This version allows them to use the Digimon data they carry in their body to evolve, using the "Hyper Bio Evolution" commands, for evolutions to armor level, the " command 34;Hyper Bio Extra Evolution" for the mega level.
Digivice Burst
The Digivice Burst (Data Burst Digivice in the USA version, and "Digivice Impulso" in Latin America) is the improved version of the Digivice iC. Professor Daimon Suguro (Spencer Damon in the US version) was the first person to use it, in history prior to the events of the series. Masaru, Touma and Yoshino obtain them after training to master their Digisoul, while Ikuto later, during the battle against the Royal Knights. This Digivice has as a special system the "Signal Port", which is activated thanks to an "Air Signal", which has among its functions to activate the Burst Mode through the command &# 34;Charge! Digisoul Burst!".
Xros Loader
The Digimon Xros Loader, abbreviated D Xros Loader, is the Digivice used by the protagonists of the Digimon Xros Wars anime. Since the series is just beginning, its full capacity has not been revealed yet, but we can know that it is capable of keeping various digimon inside (such as the Digivice iC), and it is also capable of healing the wounds of the digimon that are housed. inside. Its main function is to make DigiXros possible, calculating what type of DigiXros is suitable for the battle being fought. The Xros Loader can also download the data from the Digimemories, materializing the attacks that are housed in them and also, with the help of the Code Crown, it is capable of opening portals to other Zones of the Digital World.
Taiki gets his by saving Shoutmon's life. Kiriha and Nene also possess Xros Loaders, but how they obtained them has not been revealed.
Digivices used in the Manga
Digivice 01
It is the Digivice used in V-Tamer. It has the basic functions of a V-Pet. Among its functions are a data scanning and analysis system, a transmitter that allows you to interact with remote computers (Taichi used this system to hack a factory's security system), store information in its memory bank, a built-in Digimon analyzer, and a data transmission system, which allows the tamer to send commands directly to its Digimon's mind or objects (such as food or healing items) to its body. Also, by using two 01 Digivices, the DNA Evolution can be accessed.
The Digivice 01 that Taichi Yagami received was designed exclusively for him, as a support program to help the vaccinations of the Digiworld. However, the Tamers summoned by Lord Demon also had her Digivices: Neo used two black Digivices, Hideto used two white Digivices, and Mari used her own modified version, since her design was different from the original.
Digimon Pendulum X
Considered as the Digivice in the Digimon Chronicle, its functions were to see partner Digimon's statuses and control their X-Antibody level. In addition, the tamer could listen to the Digimon's thoughts through the Digivice. He is called Digivice X in the card game.
D-Cyber
Considered the Digivice in D-Cyber, its function allows the tamer, by waving the Digivice, to allow their partner Digimon to use their special techniques. Additionally, the D-Cyber channels the tamer's energy spheres into his Digimon.
Mini Digimon
Considered the Digivice in Digimon Next, its only function is to see the status of partner Digimon.
Digivice iC
The protagonists obtain this Digivice when their Mini Digimon are upgraded. The basic functions of this particular Digivice iC are the same as its anime counterpart, although it has certain functions original to the manga:
- It allows the use of Digisoul, although it can use it to enhance the power of the Digimon, not merely using it to evolve only.
- It shows the Digimon Power of the Digimon.
- Serve to store Digitamas or food.
- You can detect Digimon enemies, and analyze your DPs.
Twin Digimon
The latest version of Digivices used in Next. Given by Norn to Tsurugi and Yuu, its function is to allow Agumon and Gaomon to evolve into Victory Greymon and Z'd Garurumon.
Xros Loader
The Digimon Xros Loader, abbreviated D Xros Loader, is the Digivice used by the protagonists of the Digimon Xros Wars manga. Its functions and origins do not differ from the anime version.
