David Bisbal Ferre (Almería, June 5, 1979) is a Spanish singer who rose to fame in the early 2000s after finishing second in the first edition of Operación triunfo in 2001. In 2016, the Personality Media agency produced a public opinion report in which he continued to obtain a high percentage of popularity among the Spanish population, being known by 97% and a rating of 6 out of 10.

In November 2022, he received the quadruple diamond disc award from Universal Music for international sales of 4 million copies of his entire discography.

Biography

1979-2001: Beginnings in music

David Bisbal is the son of José Bisbal and María Ferre Montoya. He was born on June 5, 1979 in Almería and has two brothers: José María, born on March 16, 1968; and María del Mar, born on January 31. His father was a boxer and retired in 1976, leaving a record of 49 fights won, 35 lost and 9 draws, and having held the title of Spanish lightweight champion. Once he retired from boxing, he worked as a carpentry official in the Almería City Council, and his mother was a seamstress.

He was educated at the Goya school in Almería, but dropped out in the 2nd year of BUP because he did not like studying. His parents enrolled him in a forestry course-workshop and he started working in the Almería municipal nursery under the influence of his father. In 1997, while he was singing at work, the owner of the nursery named María del Mar Martínez heard him and recommended that he go to the casting to be the singer in the Expresiones Orchestra, where her husband was a producer. Bisbal was chosen and combined his work in the nursery with his career as a singer in the Orchestra during the summer festival season in Eastern Andalusia.

2001-2003: Claim to Fame and Latin Heart

On October 22, 2001, Bisbal, aged twenty-two, made his first public appearance at the first gala of the Operación Triunfo 2001 musical contest (often abbreviated OT). On February 11, 2002, he placed second with 20.9% of the votes —382,858 cast from February 4 to 11, between 163,060 via calls and 219,798 via messages— and an audience of 12.8 million viewers at the final ceremony, being the most viewed broadcast of a contest in Spain. at the Saku Suurhall Arena in Tallinn.

On June 3, his first album Corazón Latino was released through Vale Music. It was recorded between Barcelona, New York and Miami with production by Kike Santander. The album reached number one in its first week of debut, breaking sales records and staying at number one on the sales charts in Spain for seven consecutive weeks. That year, he recorded a small promotional album called Grandes baladas with 4 versions of classic ballads such as El día que me quieras, Contigo en la distancia and a Spanish version of Nothing's gonna change my love for you. It is an album recorded for promotional broadcast with the "Tarjeta 40 Principales" from La Caixa, so it did not go on sale.

In September 2003, he won his first Latin Grammy in the Best New Artist category. On October 31, he began his first Latin American tour in Argentina, where he toured 12 countries with 17 live concerts. In November, a special edition of Corazón latino was put on sale in Mexico. The album sold around 1,300,000 copies in Spain, with which he obtained his first Diamond album. With the album Corazón latino won the Ondas Award, as well as several Music Award and Amigo Award nominations.

2004-2008: Bulería and Premonition

On January 7, 2004, "Bulería" was released, the first single from the second album with which he reached Number 1 on the sales and radio charts in Spain and Latin America. On February 11 of that same year, her second album, which bears the same name as the first single, went on sale.The album debuted at number one on the sales charts in Spain where it sold more than 300,000 copies in a week. In turn, he managed to reach the gold record in Colombia and Venezuela shortly after the album went on sale. The album sold more than 1,300,000 copies worldwide, of which 1,000,000 belong to Spain, thus obtaining their second Diamond record. He being the only artist along with Alejandro Sanz to have more than 1 Diamond disc in Spain. In November 2004, he first set foot in Germany to promote the duet with the singer Joana Zimmer, a duet with the theme "Let's make history". A few days after presenting the video clip for the song, David appeared at the 'Homage to Rocío Jurado' gala.

The first single from this new album, «Quién me was going to say», was released in August 2006. It reached number one on the sales and radio charts in Spain and Latin America. On October 3, he released his third full studio album under the name of Premonición. It reached number one on its debut, managing to reach five platinum records. On October 24 of that year, he performed in Strasbourg, the seat of the European Parliament, performing the songs from his album before representatives of the 25 member countries in an exclusive concert. The singer won the Ondas Award, held at the Teatre Musical of Barcelona, at the 53rd Gala of the Awards and the Golden Microphone in the musical category. 2009-2013: Not looking back

Without Looking Back is the name of their fourth studio album. It was launched on the market on October 20, 2009 in Spain, Latin America and the United States. On its first day of release, it went double platinum in Spain. The album ended up going triple platinum in Spain and gold in Argentina. His first single was "Slave of his kisses." The album was chosen record of the year by the audience of Televisión Española and sold around 500,000 certified copies worldwide. A year later, in 2010, he would put his voice on the soundtrack of the film The Last Song where he sings a duet with Miley Cyrus. A total of 128 concerts in venues as unique as the Royal Albert Hall in London, Carnegie Hall in New York or Luna Park in Buenos Aires. On November 15 of the same year, in Las Vegas, David Bisbal won his third Latin Grammy, this time in the Best Traditional Pop Album category.

2014-2017: You and I and Children of the Sea

The first single «Ten thousand ways» was released on January 23 and became number 1 on iTunes the first week of its release. On March 18, he released his album Tú y yo. On this album he has the collaboration of artists such as India Martínez, Antonio Orozco, Manuel Carrasco, Vega and the Brazilian Sandy. With this CD in its first week he went double platinum in Spain and gold in Argentina, as well as getting the platinum single for "Diez mil maneras". Her tour began in Argentina and tours several South American countries and Spain. Later he would manage to reach the triple platinum record in Spain, a platinum record in Argentina, a gold record in Mexico and a gold record in Romania. Private life

In 2001 he appeared in the first edition of a TVE program called Operación Triunfo where he won second prize and overwhelming fame. There he began his sentimental relationship with the singer Chenoa, also a participant in that contest, which lasted until 2005.

In 2006 he began a relationship with the designer Elena Tablada, mother of his daughter Ella, born in February 2010. After five years of living together, Elena and David ceased their relationship in June 2011.

In July 2018, after two years of relationship, he married the Venezuelan actress Rosanna Zanetti. On April 6, 2019, Rosanna gave birth to the couple's first child together, named Matteo. In May 2020 David announced, through social networks, that he was expecting his second child with Rosanna. A girl who was finally born on October 26, 2020 and whom they named Bianca.

She currently lives in Madrid, with Almería being her second home.

In 2023 he was awarded the Favorite Son of Andalusia.

In 2023 a phrase of his went viral: "First of all, how are the machines". It was derived from a video posted on the networks in which the singer appeared greeting a group of fans at the exit of the Los40 Primavera Pop festival held at the Wizink Center in Madrid.
