Dantooine is a fictional planet in the Star Wars universe. He does not appear in the films of the saga, but he is mentioned in Episode IV. It is situated on the outer rim, far from Republic rule and control. Like Tatooine, Dantooine is largely controlled by the Hutts. Its climate is temperate.

History

Four thousand years before the arrival of the galactic Empire, Dantooine was home to a Jedi academy, which served as the Outer Rim branch of the academy that existed on Coruscant. This academy was destroyed by Darth Malak while he was searching for the jedi Bastila Shan. The ruins of this headquarters later served as one of the secret bases of the Rebel Alliance.

Clone Wars

During the period of the Clone Wars, the Confederacy of Independent Systems invaded the planet with their droid army.

A clone army led by Mace Windu fought off the invaders. In the midst of this battle, a giant Separatist tank burst in, generating seismic tremors. With several tremors, he managed to wipe out a large part of the clone army, but not before also sacrificing a large part of the droid army. Mace Windu survived these tremors, but lost his sword and had to fend off the droids using the force until, thanks to another tremor, he found his lightsaber and jumped into the tank, killing the pilots and destroying it. from inside. With this the Battle of Dantooine was won by the Republic.

During the Empire

This planet was one of the first secret bases of the Rebel Alliance, where weapons and fighter jets were unloaded as well as equipment and supplies. Some time later an Imperial probe was discovered in one of its cargoes and the planet had to be abandoned due to the risk that the Empire would have discovered them, although it had not. Later, when she was interrogated by the Empire aboard the Death Star, Leia Organa revealed the location of the Dantooine base, only to discover that it was abandoned.
