It has been manufactured since 2004 with a transverse front engine and front-wheel drive. It is offered in four-door sedan and five-door estate versions, known as 'Dacia Logan MCV'. It is considered a low-cost car, with a focus on emerging markets and regions with developing infrastructure, which has a cost-benefit relationship.[citation required]
The Dacia Sandero is a five-door hatchback with which it shares mechanical components.
Currently, versions are offered with diesel engines (1.5 dCi of 90 hp with belt distribution, with the possibility of an AMT automatic transmission), gasoline (1.0 SCe of 75 hp and 0.9 TCe of 90 hp, both with chain distribution, with the possibility of an AMT automatic transmission in the 0.9 TCe version) and bifuel with gasoline/LPG available only with the 90hp 0.9 TCe engine.

History
The XX90 project was developed as a low-cost car, the famous 5,000 euro car and designed for emerging countries, with low maintenance costs, high capacity and with reliable and easy-to-repair mechanics. The Logan began to be sold in Western Europe (Spain, France and Germany) in June 2005. Since its appearance, the Logan was also assembled in Morocco, Russia, Colombia, Brazil, Iran and India with slight changes and other details modified in its initial design. Some of its rivals are similar cars like the Fiat Palio, Volkswagen Fox, Chevrolet Prisma, Chevrolet Aveo, Hyundai Accent and Lada Kalina.
The Renault company very correctly anticipated the globalizing competition coming from India and China, especially the latter country, which has been flooding the markets with low-priced consumer products for some time and is now beginning to venture into automobiles. The competition that China represents for the global automotive industry with brands that offer low-cost cars can only be countered with low-cost cars whose brand and quality are recognized by the world market, such as the Renault brand.
The Logan is the result of the X90 project, announced by Renault after the integration of the Dacia subsidiary. It was then announced as the "5,000 euro car" by the sales price target set by the French manufacturer. The final price at its presentation in 2004, having to consider that its manufacturing or production was generated in mid-2003, however, was around 6,000 euros in the basic version and 14,000 in those with the most complete features.
This car was designed to start in the coldest areas of Russia, manufactured to withstand the most extreme heats such as those of the Persian Gulf or to roll on the most abused roads such as those in Eastern Europe, North Africa and South America.
After the acquisition of AvtoVAZ by Renault, the MCV version was remodeled and manufactured for the Russian market since 2012 as a complement in a plant near Moscow under the name Lada Largus, changing the Dacia logo to the stylized L, and initially being produced in two versions.
Bodies

At launch, the Logan was sold only in a four-door sedan body ("Logan Sedan"). At the 2006 Paris Motor Show, a five-door family variant ("Logan MCV" or "Logan Break") was presented, which has been offered since October of that year with five and seven seats. In January 2007, a five-door van ("Logan Van") was added, and in early 2008 a two-door pickup ("Logan Pickup"). In both the station wagon and the van, the tailgate has a double leaf opening horizontally. The sedan has a shorter length and wheelbase than the other three bodies.
In 2008, the Dacia Sandero was launched, a five-door hatchback based on the Logan and with a differentiated design; Like this one, it will be marketed as Renault or Dacia in different countries.

Features
Among the new features introduced with the new model is a new 0.9-liter three-cylinder turbo, capable of developing 90 horsepower (66 kW) and 135 N m (100 lb ft). The other two engine options are a 1.2-litre petrol engine, also available as an LPG fuel variant, and a 1.5-litre diesel engine, available with two power outputs. Its performance figures are predominantly similar to those of the second generation Sandero.
Another addition is the Media Nav system, already introduced earlier in the same year in the Lodgy, which consists of an on-board computer that can be manipulated by touching a 7-inch touch screen, and also has multimedia functions and a navigation software. Other new features are a speed limiter, cruise control, rear parking sensors, and front and side airbags, as well as self-locking brakes and stability control as standard. The interior has been significantly revised, with new chrome elements added and where the rear hood rests on a reinforced strut. A new button for driving in Eco mode has been placed on the torpedo, which helps limit the engine speed to 4,000 rpm.

This is the only trim level available for the 90 horsepower (66 kW) version of the 1.5-liter diesel engine.

Only 2,000 units of this version will be produced, which features new equipment - such as automatic climate control, fog lights, dual lights, repeaters, 16-inch wheels and mounted mirrors - along with several special design elements.
