Contenido The cytogenetic map or karyogram is the ordered representation of an individual's chromosomes based on function, shape and size when stained and examined under a beaker. Depending on the stain used, a different and specific pattern of light and dark bands will be obtained for each chromosome pair. This feature makes it possible to study a person's chromosomes in search of chromosomal abnormalities.
The most commonly used bandings are:
- Bandeo J: Bright fluorescent strips are obtained to dye with kinacrine.
- Bandeo G: The bands obtained are the opposites to the Q band, that is, where in the Q there was a dark band, in the G is brilliant. It is obtained by treating chromosome with trypsin and then dyeing with giemsa.
- Bandeo R: It is used to define the ends of chromosomes, which are stained with acridine orange.
- Bandeo A Highlights the Central American regions of chromosome. Gyms are usually used.
- Bandeo T: It is used for telomer staining.
