Cymbopetalum is a genus of phanerogamous plants with 38 species belonging to the Annonaceae family. They are native to central and southern America.

Features

Trees or shrubs with generally large leaves. Large, solitary, terminal or axial flowers. With 3 sepals, 6 petals and numerous stamens. It presents numerous carpels and 4 to 14 ovules.

Taxonomy

The genus was described by George Bentham and published in the Journal of the Proceedings of the Linnean Society 5: 69. 1860. The type species is: Cymbopetalum brasiliense (Vell.) Benth. former Baill.
