The BEMER Cyclassics - formerly called the HEW Cyclassics (1996-2005), Vattenfall Cyclassics (2006-2015) or EuroEyes Cyclassics (2016-2019), and also known as Cyclassics Hamburg (original name, no sponsor) or Hamburg Classic- is a cycling classic held in and around Hamburg (Germany).
It had a length of around 250 km in its first editions, which progressively decreased its mileage to 216 km. Despite the fact that in recent years it has returned to its original format, in 2016 it will have a 217.7-kilometre route.
History
It began to run under the name Vuelta a Hamburgo in 1996 but changed its name in its second edition when it began to be sponsored by the German electrical company HEW. In 1998 it began to form part of the Cycling World Cup events, replacing the Wincanton Classic, a British classic that took place in August. Since 2005 he has been part of the UCI ProTour.
In 2006, with the change of name of the sponsoring company, the competition changed its name again to adopt Vattenfall, being from that year when it began to lower its mileage. In 2016, the ophthalmological surgery company EuroEyes joined the test as the main support and new name for it.
