The term Canadian culture refers to the artistic, musical, literary, gastronomic, political and social elements that are representative of Canada and Canadians, not only its own population, but also the people of all the world. Canadian culture has historically been influenced by European culture and traditions, especially British and French, and by their own indigenous cultures. Over time, elements of the cultures of Canada's immigrant populations have been incorporated into mainstream Canadian culture. Subsequently, it has been influenced by American culture due to their shared language, proximity and migration between both countries.
Canada is often characterized as a "very progressive, diverse and multicultural" country. Canada's government policies, such as: publicly funded health care, higher and progressive taxes, prohibition of criminal capital, major efforts to eliminate poverty, emphasis on cultural diversity, and more recently the legalization of same-sex marriage - are social indicators of Canada's political and cultural values.
The Federal Government of Canada has influenced Canadian culture with programs, laws, and institutions. He has created Crown companies to promote Canadian culture through the media, such as the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC)” and the “National Film Board of Canada (NFB) ”, and promotes many events that it considers to promote Canadian traditions. For tens of thousands of years, Canada was inhabited by Aboriginal peoples from a variety of different cultures and various language groups. Gastronomy of Canada
With Canada being such a large country, cuisine varies by region and by the many cultures that have populated this part of North America. Some of the dishes are similar to those from other regions of the continent, although some are unique to Canada or versions that you won't find in another country. Despite this variety, some foods that could be considered Canada's national dish are poutine and butter tart. It is important to note that Canada is the number one producer of maple syrup, so many Dishes are distinguished by the use of said product.
Historically, three cuisines have had the greatest influence on Canadian gastronomy: First Nations, English, and Canadian. Nevertheless, waves of emigrants have continued to arrive in the country in the last century, from the rest of Europe, Asia, Africa, the Caribbean and Latin America.
