Corolla
keyboard_arrow_down
Contenido The corolla (from the Latin corolla, literally "crown") is the inner whorl of flowers that have a heterochlamyd perianth. It is made up of petals.
It is usually brightly colored in entomophilous plants because one of its main functions is to attract insects that carry out pollination.
Corolla types
First of all distinguish between corolla dialipétala, when the petals are not united; and gamopétala, when the petals are welded at their base or completely. Secondly, according to the symmetry, a distinction is made between an actinomorphic corolla, when the symmetry is radiated; and zygomorphic, when there is only one plane of symmetry and the symmetry is said to be bilateral.
