Taylor first met his father on March 28, 2005, and has forged a strong relationship with him. Currently, he has a wife, an ex-wife, and two children. By the time he released Stone Sour's Come What (ever) May album, he was sober. On August 3, 2009 and July 29, 2010, he co-hosted the Kerrang! alongside Scott Ian from Anthrax and The Damned Things. Similarly, he has stated in numerous interviews that he loves Gibson guitars, and has recorded videos on behalf of the Gibson Association. When he plays solo or with Stone Sour, he frequently uses guitars from this brand.

Corey Taylor is a founding member of Stone Sour and has released six studio albums with the band. Taylor joined Slipknot in 1997 to replace their original vocalist Anders Colsefni. He has released 6 studio albums with the band. Taylor constantly alternates between the two bands, as seen in 2001, after the release of Iowa, where he reunited with Stone Sour immediately after touring with Slipknot. He has worked with various bands including Apocalyptica, Anthrax, Junk Beer Kidnap Band, Velvet Revolver, Soulfly, and Avenged Sevenfold. Taylor composes and sings various styles, varying by genre. Former Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison calls him "a very good melody singer". Taylor was ranked 86th on the list of "Top 100 Metal Vocalists of All Time".; by Hit Parader.

Personal life

Corey Taylor was born in Des Moines, Iowa, on December 8, 1973, the first of three children. Taylor was raised by his mother in Waterloo, Iowa, a place described by Taylor as "a hole in the ground with buildings all around it". In 1979, Taylor and his mother watched the science fiction series Buck Rogers in the 25th Century. Prior to the series, they aired a trailer for the 1978 horror film Halloween. Taylor said this "developed some meaning to Slipknot in [himself]". i>Halloween introduced Taylor to horror themes and masks, his grandmother introduced him to rock, showing him a collection of Elvis Presley records from the mid-1950s to the late 1970s. He found songs like & # 34; Teddy Bear & # 34;, & # 34; In the Ghetto & # 34; and "Suspicious Minds" of interest to him, describing them as being from the 'good old days.' Also, at a young age, he began listening to Black Sabbath's early work.

Taylor, along with her mother and sister, lived in a "ramshackle country house," in which the last days of autumn "looked like Black album covers. Sabbath". At the age of fifteen, Taylor developed a severe drug addiction and had already suffered two cocaine overdoses. At this time, Taylor lived in Waterloo, Iowa, where she left on her own. himself and ended up at his grandmother's house in Iowa. She took legal custody of her grandson and helped him by buying him musical equipment. When Taylor was 18, he left his grandmother's trailer and traveled to different places, although he used to return to Des Moines often. Taylor and his father first met when Taylor was an adult and now have a strong relationship. On September 17, 2002, Corey's girlfriend, Scarlett Stone, gave birth to their son. Griffin Parker. Taylor also has a daughter named Angie, born in 1992 from a previous relationship. Taylor and Stone were married on March 11, 2004, and divorced three years later. On November 13, 2009, they had their second nuptials with Stephanie Luby.

Corey Taylor is passionate about politics —as expressed on the album All Hope Is Gone. He considers himself an "independent" centrist and is critical of Bill Clinton, George Walker Bush and Barack Obama. Taylor was involved in Obama's campaign, for which he raised $45,000. Most of the funds were obtained through the tours done by Stone Sour. Also and within his personal life, Taylor has had a series of problems due to excessive alcohol consumption, in which his ex-wife, Scarlett helped him, in addition to preventing him from committing suicide. On November 14, 2003, Taylor attempted jump from the eighth-floor balcony of the Hyatt on Sunset Boulevard, but Scarlett stopped him. The story was later changed by Kerrang! Radio, where they said that it was his friend Thom Hazaert who actually intervened to prevent Taylor from jumping. Scarlett then told him that he would either have to stay sober or have the marriage annulled. Before he began recording Come What(ever) May with Stone Sour in January 2006, Taylor was already sober. On August 3, 2009, he co-hosted the Kerrang! Awards with Scott Ian of the band Anthrax. The following year, they co-hosted the Kerrang! Awards, where he picked up the K! Services on behalf of Paul Gray, who died from an accidental overdose of morphine and fentanyl, and who had shown obvious signs of 'heart disease'. In early September 2010, Taylor announced that his book, Seven Deadly Sins (Seven Deadly Sins), would be released on July 21, 2011 through Da Capo Press. Taylor is a vegetarian.

Musical career

Stone Sour

Corey Taylor as a vocalist of Stone Sour.

Taylor is the founding member of the American hard rock band Stone Sour. After forming the band with drummer Joel Ekman, Shawn Economaki joined as bassist and Josh Rand as guitarist. Stone Sour recorded a demo album in 1992 and another in 1994. In 1997 Taylor was approached to join the metal band Slipknot, leaving Stone Sour while recording another demo album with Sean McMahon at SR Studios. Taylor didn't return until five years later to finish recording their debut album, Stone Sour in 2002. Both Taylor and guitarist Josh Rand contacted Slipknot guitarist Jim Root and original bassist Shawn Economaki. of Stone Sour, in order to compose songs for the album. Drummer Joel Ekman also returned to the band to finalize the recording process. This "regrouping" resulted in the recording of Stone Sour's first album at Catamount Studios in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Their self-titled debut album was released on August 27, 2002 and debuted at number 46 on the Billboard 200. second album, Come What(ever) May, released on August 1, 2006, debuted at number four and received positive reviews from critics. Live in Moscow is currently their only album available exclusively as a digital download. During the recording of the album, drummer Joel Ekman left the band for personal reasons. Because of this, they hired Roy Mayorga to fill his position. The group released their third studio album, Audio Secrecy, on September 7, 2010. The Group, after Launching Audio Secrecy, and touring, announced his new album House Of Gold & Bones Part.1, which was released on October 22, 2012, having as its first two Singles, Gone Sovereing/Absolute Zero. Also, they announced, their album tour. A year later, they announced the album House of Gold & Bones Part. 2, their single was Do Me A Favor, this album was released on April 9, 2013. Until now, the band is still active, leaving Slipknot aside, and announced their tour for 2014.

Mask

Corey Taylor with Slipknot in 2005.

Originally it was a leather mask with dreadlocks that almost covered his hair, which made up his dreadlocks. Then there is the molded latex mask and fake tumors that has had several versions, only for the album Iowa it was grayed out and later, whitewashed. With the mask from Vol.3, it was a mask that had a certain resemblance to a zombie that is smiling on the left side and the right side is sad and on the right side a false tooth, maybe it is representing Corey's life, which he was very sad in his childhood but he won in life and now he lives happily. The fears are gone and it's his own hair, red and purple. In All Hope Is Gone he used a latex mask, with only the opening for his nose and mouth, a black screen covering his eyes which are of different sizes, the small ear holes and the hair region, which represents his fondness for horror movies and certain comic book heroes. Corey currently occupies a double mask that he claims to be like that thanks to the fact that he claims to have 2 personalities, it is made of a material similar to leather, it is beige in color, you can see sewn parts such as the sides of the mouth, and underneath it's like a plastic-like material with a light blue hue, and you can see some blue veins on the forehead. This mask tries to have a resemblance to the classic horror movie character Freddy Krueger.

We are not hiding behind these masks, we are revealing more than you can imagine. The mask I wear to put all the bad things inside of me. Even if we don't wear the masks, the music would still be of good quality. [citation needed]

Slipknot

Corey Taylor and the Slipknot band, live at the Optimus Alive Festival in Portugal.

While Corey Taylor was working in a sex shop in Des Moines, Iowa, Joey Jordison, Shawn Crahan, and Mick Thomson took the opportunity to ask him about the idea of joining Slipknot. He went to one of their rehearsals, and ended up singing in front of them. They asked him if he would join the band because of his melodic voice. While Taylor was positioned as the band's lead vocalist, previous vocalist Anders Colsefni was moved to backing vocals and percussion. Not in accordance with this decision, Colsefni left the band shortly after, which for the self-titled album Slipknot was given a tribute in the middle of the album on the inside, which is supposed to be Colsefni dismembered.

Feeling that he could expand on Slipknot more than Stone Sour, Taylor temporarily left Stone Sour, despite the fact that he was recording an album with Sean McMahon. Taylor's first concert with Slipknot was on August 22, 1997, in which and according to the members of the band it did not go well. During his first concert, Taylor reneged on wearing a mask; however, for his second performance about a month later, Corey wore a mask similar to the mask on the debut album. Taylor's current mask was described by MTV's Chris Harris "as one that was made of dried, human flesh—like Leatherface, only he uses moisturizing creams". One of these masks is found in the possession of British band Muse musician Dom Howard, after both bands played at MetalFest. He was subjected to Taylor's seeming "sit the fuck down!" during a Slipknot installation, an experience that can be relived (wearing the mask) on the Muse Hullabaloo DVD. Despite rumors that Howard had stolen the mask, he did, in fact, later gift it to a fan.

Taylor has recorded with Slipknot since the release of their second demo album, a self-titled demo used to promote the band. As a vocalist, he recorded with Slipknot at Indigo Ranch in Malibu, California Slipknot, the The band's debut album peaked at number one on the Top Heatseekers chart, went double platinum in the United States, and was included in the 2006 book 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die. .
