Connectivity (telecommunications)
Connectivity is the ability of a device (personal computer, peripheral, PDA, mobile, robot, household appliance, car, etc.) to connect and communicate with another, in order to exchange information or establish a direct connection based on digital information.
Computer connector
A computer connector is any connector inside a computer or for connecting computers to networks, printers, or other devices. These connectors have specific names that allow for more accurate identification, and the use of these names is encouraged. Some common computer connectors are D-sub, IEEE 1394, parallel port, PS/2, USB, FireWire, BNC, RJ-45, and various pin and 'socket' connectors. Most computer connectors are electrical or optical.
Public connectivity
Spaces provided with an Internet link and access devices for the promotion of collective intelligence actions, the training of skills and the use of people's free time. It corresponds to initiatives led by public and private organizations that seek to correct the digital divide.
In Latin America
The Ministry of Information Technology and Communications of Colombia implemented between 2010 and 2018 the strategies called "Puntos Digitales" and "Digital Kiosks" which was a national project that has promoted the use and exploitation of ICTs, through the creation of free Internet access community centers for Internet use, entertainment, training, and access to procedures and services.
