Colla Jove from Castellers de Sitges
The Colla Jove de Castellers de Sitges is a Colla castellera founded in 1993 in Sitges (Garraf, Catalonia). They wear wine-colored shirts. The most important festivals for the Colla are celebrated the weekend before or after the Sant Jordi Festival (April 23), the Sant Bartomeu Festival (August 24) and the Santa Tecla Festival (August 23). September), in Cap de la Vila, the town's main square. Likewise, it closes its castle season with the Diada Castellera de la Colla at the end of October.
Brief History
On August 22, 1993 the Colla Jove de Castellers de Sitges raised its first six-story castells (human towers) in Sitges, in a private ceremony in front of its social premises, the Palau del Rei Moro. The Colla resumed the casteller hobby in Sitges after the disappearance of the Castellers de Sitges in 1987. The next day, the Colla officially presented itself, downloading the quatre of sis. On September 23, by Santa Tecla, the sis tower is loaded. And on November 7, on the first Diada de la Colla', the sis tower is unloaded and the first castell of seven is loaded: the quatre of set.
On September 11, 1994, the first castell de set was unloaded in Llinars del Vallès and days later the first zinc pillar arrived. From that moment on, Jove de Sitges had an unstoppable projection. In 1995 one of the Colles revelation of the year will take place thanks to the success of the Special Day on July 13 where the Jove de Sitges downloads the < i>cinc i el quatre de set amb l'agulla, both on the first try. And on October 29, the cherry on top of the season arrives by loading the set tower for the first time. In 1996 the decision was made to attempt the quatre de vuit. The consolidation of the seven-story structures gave rise to Jove to try but on the three occasions in which she raised this structure the castell fell with the acotxador placed. Even so, the Jove will continue to surpass ceilings by releasing the tres de set aixecat per sota 1997. In the 1998 Festival they achieved what, until 2006, was the best performance of its trajectory (five set, loaded set rook and three loaded set per jack).
From that moment until today the Colla Jove de Castellers de Sitges is a Colla that has consolidated the castells de set i mig. Until 2006, its roof was the set tower, a castell that has been loaded three times in 1995, 1998 and 2003, until September 24, 2006., in which he has managed to download his first quatre de vuit in history.
In 2006, La Jove achieved the greatest successes in its history, by releasing the quatre de vuit on two occasions (on September 24, on the occasion of Santa Tecla, and on October 29, on the Diada de la Colla). This great success was a turning point in the trajectory of the colla, characterized from the beginning as an expression of struggle, pride, respect and sacrifice. La Jove has placed Sitges as the smallest town to have a group of 8, without a doubt a great achievement recognized by the entire casteller community, which has also contributed to positioning this square as one of the most important in the casteller universe.
At the 2007 Festival, the Jove de Sitges revalidated its status as a group of 8, by loading the quatre de vuit, the third in its history, which they aspire to download again, along with the set tower in the What a lack of season. In 2007, La Jove has integrated a large number of new towers as a result of its new expansion. The rehearsal before the Fiesta Mayor was attended by almost 300 people, and in the Fiesta Mayor performance they added more than 150 "color vi" shirts.
And the objective was achieved two years later, since on the Diada de la Colla of 2009, the Jove de Sitges signed in a Cap de la Vila once again given to its colla the best performance in its history: quatre de vuit and set zinc discharged, next to the loaded 7 tower.
In 2016, the best performance of the moment is equaled by re-discharging the 4d8 and 5d7, leaving the tower of 7 loaded, which the following year is dominated, reaching discharge on 4 occasions.
In 2019, after two years without doing castell de 8, the quatre de vuit is recovered in the colla day.
