Cloud city

The Cloud City or Cloud City (Cloud City in English) is a floating city from the universe of War of the galaxies. Appears in the films The Empire Strikes Back, (Episode V of the saga) and Return of the Jedi (Episode VI).

Cloud City is a vast metropolis suspended in the air at a considerable height from the surface of the planet Bespin. It has the shape of a silver disk and on its top there were independent buildings. Throughout its dimensions there were more than three hundred levels, with metal processing towers and spaceports, and as a population about six million inhabitants. This city was a colony that extracted Tibanna gas from the planet and exported it as an independent and up-and-coming corporation. He was on the fringes of the mining guild and the Galactic Empire.

In Cloud City there was a species called the Ugnaught, these were the workers who operated and built Tibana gas extraction machines.

After the battle on Hoth, Han Solo, Leia Organa, and Chewbacca flew to Bespin seeking the help of Lando Calrissian. At that time Lando was the Baron Administrator of Cloud City, having Lobot as assistant.

In order to save his colony from Imperial occupation, however, Calrissian betrayed his friend Han Solo, later realizing that Darth Vader did not make a fair deal and that he could break it at any time. Thus, Lando Calrissian faced the Galactic Empire and saved Leia Organa and Chewbacca, hoping to rescue Han Solo, who had been frozen in carbonite.

Expanded Universe

• Star Wars comics showed that immediately after Episode VI Lando Calrissian faced the Galactic Empire with the help of Luke Skywalker and expelled them to less important mining operations than would be expelled after the Thrawn crisis. Calrissian would then leave the Nube City to its Ugnaught dwarf miners.

• In the video game Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast the Cloud City was attacked by imperial, smugglers and the dark Jedi Desann. Kyle Katarn, Calrissian and the security forces expelled them with the help of Republican base forces in Sullust and Katarn eliminated the apprentice of Desann, Tavion.

• Also appears in the video game for PC Star Wars: Rebellion.

• Cloud City is the name of the fourth enlargement of the Star Wars CCG collectable card game. It consists of 180 letters and was published in November 1997.
