Clothing index
The clothing index is used to assess the insulation provided by the clothing (clothing or clothing plus other accessories, such as shoes or hats) that people wear in front of to inclement weather.
Its unit of measurement is the clo and it is determined between zero (0) clo, which is the total lack of isolation, that is, nudity, and one (1) clo, which is the normal clothing of a man (when defined), that is, a suit with a cotton jacket, a cotton shirt, normal underwear, also made of cotton, socks and shoes. A very warm clothing for a western man (with woolen clothes, hat, coat, scarf, etc.) has a value between 3 and 4 clo.
This index is used to assess the influence of clothing on the thermal needs of the human body in light of environmental temperatures: the warmer the clothing, the lower the temperature is required for comfort.
