Climbing

classic climbing or traditional is a type of climbing in which special emphasis is placed on traditional belaying methods; using non-fixed systems as anchor points (embedders, nails, knots, etc.), which are placed in cracks or natural holes, and then recovered. We can say that in this modality the climber recovers his anchors, unlike others that have anchoring systems fixed on the wall prior to climbing (typical of sport climbing).

It is now included in the category "Climbing Area" in the article Mountaineering instead of the old "Climbing in rock areas" above as opposed to sport climbing and because by definition all climbing that is not on ice is in rocky areas.
