Clara Lago
Clara Lago Grau (Torrelodones, Madrid; March 6, 1990) is a Spanish actress known mainly for playing Carol in Carol's Journey (2002), Clara in Cousins (2011), Gin in Vamos de ti (2012), Amaia in Eight Basque Surnames (2014) and in its sequel Eight Catalan surnames (2015) and Eva in the American film The Passenger (2018), as well as for her participation in television series such as Compañeros (2000-2002), Paco's Men (2007-2008), The Neighbor (2019-2021) and Limbo (2021).
Biography
Clara Lago was born in Torrelodones, a municipality near Madrid, the daughter of a graphic designer and a storyteller. At just nine years old, she participated in several television series with minor roles until she joined the cast of Compañeros (Antena 3) as Desirée, Lolo's girlfriend. On the big screen, she debuted in Terca vida (2000), an ensemble film in which she played the role of Bea, alongside Santiago Ramos, Manuel Alexandre, Luisa Martín and others. In 2002 she starred in Carol's Journey , a film directed by Imanol Uribe. Her first leading role in film earned her a Goya nomination in 2002 for Best New Actress.
In 2004, The life that awaits you was released, directed by Manuel Gutiérrez Aragón and starring Juan Diego, Luis Tosar and Marta Etura. In 2004 and 2005 she participated in various seasons of Hospital Central as Candela, Cruz's daughter (Alicia Borrachero). In 2006 she starred in Arena in the Pockets, directed by César Martínez Herrada. In 2007 she participated in the film El club de los suicidas , by Roberto Santiago. This same year she returned to television with Los hombres de Paco, as Carlota Fernández, Lucas's (Hugo Silva) secret sister.
In 2008 he filmed The Hangman's Game a film by Manuel Gómez Pereira, in which he stars alongside Álvaro Cervantes, the cast also includes actress Adriana Ugarte. That year she joined the cast of LEX (Antena 3), along with Javier Cámara, Santi Millán and Álex González, under the orders of Daniel Écija. In October 2008 she filmed El mal ajeno , produced by Alejandro Amenábar, sharing the bill with Belén Rueda and Eduardo Noriega.
In 2011 he participated in the film Cousins along with Quim Gutiérrez, Raúl Arévalo, Antonio de la Torre and Inma Cuesta among others. This same year she starred in The Hidden Face , alongside Quim Gutiérrez, a film for which she was awarded as a young promise of European cinema at the Berlinale and which received a Macondo Prize awarded by the Colombian Academy of Arts and Cinematographic Sciences.
On June 22, 2012, he premiered Vamos de ti, the sequel to Three meters above the sky, in which he stars alongside Mario Casas and María Valverde. In 2014 she premiered the film Eight Basque Surnames in the role of Amaia, where she shares the spotlight with Dani Rovira and Karra Elejalde among others. The comedy ended up becoming the highest-grossing film in Spanish cinema. Subsequently, it performed the play La venus de las hides directed by David Serrano. In November 2015 it premiered Ocho surnames Catalans with the same role as in Eight Basque Surnames, playing Amaia Zugasti. That same year she participated in the film Now or Never, directed by María Ripoll, where she played Tatiana. In 2017 she voiced Cleopatra VII in the video game Assassin's Creed: Origins. That same year she participated in the American series The Librarians, playing Estrella In 2018 she participated in the American film The Passenger, starring Liam Neeson, Vera Farmiga and Sam Neill, where she played Eva. That year her leading role in a series on The CW was also announced. Playing Dead, which filmed the pilot episode, but was finally cancelled.
In 2019 he starred in the films Gente que coming y bah by Patricia Font and The Tale of the Weasels by Juan José Campanella. In December of that year, she premiered the Netflix original series El Vecino, where she played Lola during its two seasons. In 2020 she starred in Chronicle of a Storm in Argentina, playing Miky. In January 2021, her incorporation as the main character in the Star+ original series Limbo was announced, playing Sofía. In 2022 she participated in the film Amores permitted.
Personal life
In March 2017, she began a vegan diet due to an ethical and environmentally friendly decision that gives her peace of mind. She also says that she feels full of energy and is in perfect health. She had a romantic relationship with fellow actor Dani Rovira, who met while filming the blockbuster film Ocho vascos surnames, finishing it in 2019.
Philanthropic projects
In 2017, together with Dani Rovira, he founded the "Ochotumbao Foundation" as a way to serve and collaborate on projects aimed at improving the lives of the most disadvantaged people, environmental conservation and the defense of animals. Among others, in their first year they carried out campaigns to support Save the Children, Rett Syndrome research and different animal associations.
