The Cistercian Museum, also called the Sacred Cistercian Museum is located in the city of Malaga, Spain. It is located on Calle Císter, next to the Santa Ana Abbey and the gardens of the Cathedral.

The museum was inaugurated in 2007. It is located in the Cistercian convent, next to the church of that order and consists of 4 rooms:

  • 1.a History of the cistern
  • 2.a The Baroque
  • 3.a Beginning and closing
  • 4.a Between life and death

In its rooms there are works by Pedro de Mena and Andrés Hermosilla, among other authors from the Malaga, Antequera and Granada workshops.

The most important works are Ece Homo and La Dolorosa, both works by Pedro de Mena y Medrano, from the 17th century. His exquisite treatment of the clothes and the folds of the tunics is striking, as well as the expression he gives to his face.

Visits: Monday to Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturdays from 11.30 to 14.00.
