Ciliated epithelium is the epithelium that contains cells with vibrating cilia on their free wall.

Ciliated epithelia have the ability to move fluid or mucus, thanks to oscillating movements, beating in a fixed direction. In the fast, effector movement, the cilium becomes hard, while it recovers its flexibility in the slow, recovery movement, in the opposite direction.
