Christen Christiansen Raunkiær

Christen Christiansen Raunkiær (or Raunkiaer) (March 29, 1860 – March 11, 1938) was a Danish ecologist and botanist, famous especially for his botanical classification system known as Raunkiær system, which is based on the morphology and position of the growth nodes of plants in the unfavorable season.

He studied at the University of Copenhagen, where he was an assistant at the botanical garden and museum from 1893 to 1911, and then professor of botany from 1912 to 1923.
