Personal life and career
Fehn was born in Des Moines and raised in Ankeny, Iowa, north of Des Moines. Before joining Slipknot, he played as a kicker for the Wayne State University football team.
Fehn joined the band around April 1997, replacing percussionist Brandon Darner, who only played one show, and who in turn replaced percussionist Greg Welts, who was forced to leave Slipknot due to personal conflicts. with drummer Joey Jordison.
In addition to lending his talents to the percussion band, Fehn has also sung backing vocals on a number of Slipknot songs that have been recorded and performed live.
Outside of Slipknot, Fehn is a very enthusiastic golfer, and this was evidenced in the band's 2006 DVD Voliminal: Inside the Nine, where he is interviewed while playing golf. Fehn describes himself as a "huge fan of the band" and has said of Slipknot, "the world needs something like this".
Mask
The design of his mask was originally made by former percussionist Brandon Darner, whom he replaced in the band.
The mask he wears has a large 16 cm nose, like Pinocchio's. It is also similar to the one used by the Black Plague doctors. In total he has 5 types of masks, the best known is a tan leather one that he regularly wore on trips and in the videos for the Iowa album.
Another well-known mask is a red one that he used on the Subliminal Verses album tour. On a tour, backstage he said: "The mask represents my comedic personality. I chose it for the "bondage" (BDSM). But when you put it on, it takes you to another place, it is very tight, hot and painful, which goes with the aggressiveness of the group. He also says that a very foul smell is generated by the mask. The last guy was created for the album All Hope Is Gone; This mask leaves your hair loose and uses a grayish tone. By 2009 he would cover his hair. Already for the Memorial World Tour he used the Iowa mask. For 2013 his mask looks similar to the one from the album All Hope Is Gone, but the color of the mask would have a green tone. Finally, during the time of the album The Gray Chapter he uses a mask identical to the previous ones; The only detail is that instead of using leather he uses one with a metallic tone.
