The chiseling of silver is a type of chiseling that is very widespread in South America. It is part of the silver work. It is an ancestral work technique in Peru and that continued to be developed in the time of the Viceroyalty of Peru for which a kind of chisel is used that is struck with a chiseling hammer, achieving fine finishes that cannot be achieved by the embossed.

Unlike embossing, the work is totally external without intervention on the back of the sheet.

This technique currently persists in Peru.
