The term Chibcha (Muisca language: chib-cha[cum] ('staff-male': 'man with the staff') and more precisely " Chib"(Our), "Cha"(People/Man) refers to several articles:

  • Chibcha, name of the Muslim people, which developed in the present Colombia;
  • Muslim languageanother name of the chibcha language;
  • Chinese languages, linguistic family of Colombia, Costa Rica, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama and Venezuela.
  • Macshibcha hypothesis o chibchano-paezano, hypothetical linguistic macrofamily.
Warning: It is advisable not to confuse the term chibcha with parophonics like:
  • La Chichaa traditional fermented drink;
  • The people Chichawhich lives in the Andean region southwest of Bolivia.
