Chiautempan Municipality
The Municipality of Chiautempan is one of the 60 municipalities that make up the Mexican state of Tlaxcala. It is located in the south-central end of the state. Its head is the city of Chiautempan. The municipality is part of the Tlaxcala-Apizaco Metropolitan Area.
Geography
Chiautempan borders to the north with the municipality of Contla de Juan Cuamatzi, to the northeast with San José Teacalco, to the south and east with San Francisco Tetlanohcan; to the southwest with La Magdalena Tlaltelulco; to the west with the municipality of Tlaxcala and to the northwest with Apetatitlán.
Demographics
According to the results of the 2010 Population and Housing Census carried out by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography, the municipality of Chiautempan has a population of 66,149 people, of which 31,651 are men and 34,498 are women.

According to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), in the territory of the municipality there are a total of 35 localities. Most of these localities are irregular settlements and colonies, although INEGI considers them as independent population centers.
