Chaetopogon fasciculatus
Chaetopogon is a monotypic genus of herbaceous plants in the Poaceae family. Its only species, Chaetopogon fasciculatus, is native to the Mediterranean region.
Description
Stems 3-40 cm tall, erect, geniculate-ascending or decumbent, glabrous. Leaves are glabrous, with a 2-4 mm ligule, and blade up to 10 x 1.5 cm, flat or convoluted when desiccated. Panicle of 1-10 cm, subcylindrical or ellipsoid, with scabrid branches and peduncles of c. 0.2mm. Spikelets 2.5-4 mm. glumes 2.5-4 mm, acute, aculeate-scabrid; the lower one finished in a 3-10 (-15) mm edge, straight. Lemma 2.5-3 mm, obtuse-dentate, glabrous. Anthers 1.4-2.2 mm. Caryopsis of 2 x 0.3 mm, linear. It has a chromosome number of 2n = 14. It flowers from April to June.

Chaetopogon fasciculatus was described by (Link) Hayek and published in Repertorium Specierum Novarum Regni Vegetabilis, Beihefte 30(3): 335. 1932.
