Chaco Railway Services
Servicios Ferroviarios del Chaco (DATE) was an Argentine public company owned by the province of Chaco. It carried out passenger services in branches from Chaco belonging to the General Belgrano Railway of the Argentine railway network, previously operated by Ferrocarriles Argentinos. In May 2010, these services began to be administered by the Argentine State through SOFSE (Operadora Ferroviaria Sociedad del Estado).
Together with the Tren de las Sierras in Córdoba and the Interurban Train in Salta, the services formerly provided by Sefecha are the only passenger services of the Belgrano Railway in the interior of the country and the only ones of a suburban nature. Its motor cars cover two circuits. One that goes from the town of Puerto Tirol to Barranqueras passing through Fontana and Resistencia. The other begins in Resistencia but changes in Fontana to go to the city of Los Amores in Santa Fe, passing through several Chaco towns on the way.
Sefecha had three models of motor cars in service, the Ferrostaal, the Man and the Chaco 1. The Chaco 1 motor car was built entirely with contributions from the company. It has reclining seats, bathrooms and air conditioning.
After 3 years of ceasing to function since March 3, 2017, the radio station Libertad de Resistencia confirms that they will resume operations in 2020. The president of Sefecha Saúl Colman told the radio station:"We are working on a budgeted plan so that the tracks are in good condition and then when the train returns, because the citizens ask us to." He stated that the idea in the new government management is to "give it a different imprint from the company"."In summary, the C3 branch that includes Avia Terai - Barranqueras, is an urgent need and we want to reactivate it"."We plan to replace the rails, leveling and aligning the roads, among other tasks". Finally, he stressed that the goal is to "put the roads in condition in 6 months".
