Cerea is a planet in the fictional Star Wars universe located near the Outer Rim.

Features

Its inhabitants, the Cereans, are very human-like. They differ by having a binary brain and a second heart, essential to vitally support the first organ. They reject technology and claim that it corrupts intelligent beings.

As the proportion of females is very high, polygamy is legal and considered necessary for the preservation of the species. For that reason, and although the Jedi are forbidden to marry, Master Ki-Adi-Mundi is allowed to mate.

Since the Galactic Republic was a mostly technology-using entity, it has been shunned by the Elders and other Cereans.

A few exceptions are Jedi Council Master Ki-Adi-Mundi, and Tarr Seirr, another Jedi who fought in the Clone Wars.

Some time after the Clone Wars were declared, Cerea was seen as a potentially useful planet and the Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems fought to bring it under their control. In the end, thousands of Cereans died, one of the most tragic events of that time.
