Centrist Democrat International
The Centrist Democrat International - Christian Democrat International, known as IDC - CDI, (in English Centrist Democrat International, in French Internationale Démocrate Centriste), called until 2001 only International Christian Democrats is an organization, based in Brussels, made up of Christian-Democratic and Social-Christian political parties —conservative Christian-inspired— from different countries and whose ideology, according to its declaration principled, was based on Christian humanism. It is the multinational, multiparty union of international reference in the ideological line of the center and center-right. The organization was born in 1961 under the name Christian Democratic World Union. It was created by the New International Teams, predecessor organization of the European Christian Democratic Union (UEDC), and by the Christian Democratic Organization of America (ODCA) and the Christian Democratic Union of Central Europe (UCDEC).
Many of its member parties are also members of the International Democratic Union, however the IDC is more grassroots and more central to the political spectrum.
The European wing of the IDC is the European People's Party (EPP), which is the largest political party at European level. For its part, the American branch is the Christian Democratic Organization of America (ODCA). On the African continent, it is the IDC - CDI Africa itself that is politically and actively in charge of the international. It is expected that in the year 2022, the IDC - CDI Asia will be born, autonomously as a regional entity on that continent.
This organization carried out, in the year 2021, a profound change, in its legal and constitutive form, considerably increasing its political and communicative activities, but in a special way, it specialized its activities with the inclusion of two important areas of competence. Specifically, the IDC - CDI Youth are seeing the light, and in a very short space of time the IDFC - IFDC dedicated to the equality and empowerment of women will do so.
