The Central Province is one of the nine provinces of the Solomon Islands, in the Pacific Ocean. It includes the Florida Islands, the Russell Islands and Savo Island. The capital of the province is the town of Tulagi, located on the island of the same name, in the group of the Florida Islands. The province has an area of 615 km², being the smallest of the nine that make up the country. The population in 1999 was 21,577 inhabitants, which made a population density of 35.1 inhabitants/km², making it the most densely populated province in the country.
