Central Mindanao
Central Mindanao or SOCCSKSARGEN (English pronunciation: ['soksardʒɛn], [sok'sardʒɛn] or [soksar'dʒɛn]) is a region of the Philippines located in central Mindanao, and officially designated as Region XII. The name SOCCSKSARGEN is an abbreviation of the names of the 4 provinces and one city that make it up: South Cotabato, Cotabato Province, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani and General Santos. The administrative center of the region is Koronadal, in the province of South Cotabato.
The region has extensive coastlines, valleys, and mountain ranges. Known for its river system, the region is part of the Mindanao account. This system is rich in fishing, drinking water and energy production. In Cotabato is the Río Grande de Mindanao, which is the longest on the island and the second in the country.
