Cemal Süreya (1931, Erzincan – 1990, Istanbul) was a Turkish poet and writer of Kurdish-Zaza descent.
Biography
He graduated from the Faculty of Political Sciences at Ankara University, later becoming editor-in-chief of the literary magazine Papirus. Cemal Süreya is part of the Second New Generation of modern Turkish Literature. Love, mainly through its erotic reality, is a popular plot of Süreya's works. Süreya's poems as well as several of her articles were published in magazines such as Yeditepe, Yazko, Pazar Postası, Yeni Ulus i>, Oluşum, Türkiye Yazıları, Politika, Aydınlık, and Somut.
