Calamovilfa is a genus of herbaceous plants belonging to the Poaceae family. It is native to North America. It includes 6 described species and of these, only 5 accepted.

Taxonomy

The genus was described by (A.Gray) Hack. ex Scribn. & Southw. and published in The True Grasses 113. 1890. The type species is: Calamovilfa brevipilis

Etymology

The generic name derives from the Greek kalamos (cane) and Vilfa, a synonym of a genus of the family.

Cytology;

The number of the base of the chromosome, x = 10. 2n = 40.
