Cabudare
Cabudare is a Venezuelan city, capital of the Palavecino Municipality, located in the Central-Western Region in Lara State, Venezuela. Cabudare reached a population of 76,120 inhabitants in 2013, which makes it the second most populous parish in the Palavecino municipality, after the José Gregorio Bastidas parish (Los Rastrojos and La Piedad). It was officially founded as a neighboring town, under the jurisdiction of the city of Barquisimeto in 1817. Cabudare is located at an altitude of 400 m, in the Turbio river valley.
Cabudare has always been the epicenter of sugarcane cultivation and production, but due to the need for urban expansion in Barquisimeto, Cabudare today is consolidated as an important residential area in the metropolitan area. Within its jurisdiction are the Fermín Toro University and the Yacambú University, as well as important health centers, such as the IDB Cabudare Clinic and the Barquisimeto International Hospital, as well as recreational areas such as the "Jorge Bermúdez recreational park 'Blackness'" (which would originally be called El Cardenalito de Cabudare).
Where is it located
Cabudare is located between Valle del Turbio, to the north, and the Terepaima national park to the south, which has had a notable impact on the development of high-impact agricultural activity, considering that the soil on which the Population is type 1, being highly usable for crops that require high amounts of water resources and nutrients. This area, it should be noted, is also classified as one of the most important aquifers in the country; Currently, its condition is in serious danger, due to agricultural inactivity and the weight that falls on urban expansion.
Sugar cane cultivation has been traditional in the region, extending to the south, towards the valleys that make up the pass to the Portuguesa plains.
Likewise, the breeding and slaughtering of bovine cattle, as well as the leather industry, have been key elements in the economic development of the area.
Roads
The main artery is Av. Intercomunal Barquisimeto-Acarigua, which connects Trunk 01 (Dr. Rafael Caldera Highway) with Trunk 04 (Cabudare-Acarigua Section). In the same way, the Agua Viva Parish is connected to Cabudare and Barquisimeto by Hermano Nectario María Av. (known as La Ribereña, due to its transit along the banks of the Turbio River).
Cabudare is an obligatory step for all kinds of goods that are transported from the southern plains of Venezuela to the north and northwest of the country; for this reason there is a railway axis connected to the Barquisimeto-Puerto Cabello railway that links the agro-industrial site of Turén with the terminal in Yaritagua, in which it crosses the agricultural sectors of the Palavecino municipality of Coco 'e mono and El Palaciero.
Current situation
Cabudare, today, shows one of the largest urban growth in Venezuela, boosted by its commercial and housing growth. It has a large number of urbanizations and neighborhoods where a large number of people live. But, regarding the beauty of the municipality, there are flaws, because it has not had a good job in terms of maintenance and strengthening of important areas by the mayors who have passed through said municipality. For what is said that it is in a kind of "abandonment" in certain areas where it is necessary not only the commitment of the ruler but of all the inhabitants of the area. Plans and programs are currently being developed for the humanization and conditioning of the municipality, with the expansion of Avenida Ribereña, improvements to the historic center of Cabudare, and improvements to its roads.
Cabudare currently has 76,120 inhabitants, making it the second most populated parish in Palavecino after the José Gregorio Bastidas Parish, which has 85,156 inhabitants.
Cabudare has been considered for many years as a sort of commuter town for Barquisimeto, given its mainly residential boom, although it has had considerable commercial development and some industrial development. However, it still cannot be considered as such due to its small size compared to its neighboring city of Barquisimeto.
Culture and Society
Currently the average population of Cabudare is not native to the place because it is part of the south of Barquisimeto, the vast majority were born in the east, west, or downtown areas of the city; It also has small percentages of residents from cities near Barquisimeto such as Acarigua, San Carlos, Guanare, San Felipe and from various towns in Lara, Portuguesa and Yaracuy.
Cabudare is the seat of the only building in Lara state awarded with the National Architecture Award of Venezuela: IDB Cabudare Clinic, designed by the architect Gustavo Sánchez Muñoz. This work obtained in 2019 the Grand Prize of the XIII Biennial organized by the College of Architects of Venezuela.
On Holy Wednesday it is customary in Cabudare to prepare a bower and arches next to the cemetery, where singers with string instruments (four and five) gather to sing salves and tones to the passage of Jesús Nazareno. The people of Cabudar are very fond of the coleados bulls, ribbon races and other attractions of a popular nature that are programmed in the patron saint festivities.
