Brozo is a character created and portrayed by Mexican political information comedian Víctor Trujillo. He has become the main alter ego of his among his cast of characters.

He is a colloquial clown, talkative, homeless, decadent, critic, alburero, driver, journalist, dubbing actor and political analyst.

Character creation

Víctor Trujillo had in mind the idea of a clown who would be radically opposed to the classic stereotype of the character with a docile, cheerful, colorful character and white and childish humor, for a badly dressed, bitter, surly one with an acid humor and for Adults. In his own words, Trujillo devised a clown "to amuse drunkards."

His name Brozo The Dark Clown was chosen to put him immediately in contrast to another clown, Bozo, and taking advantage of the play on words with "broza", in the sense that it is given in Spanish from Mexico: "Vulgar and disrespectful people."

In his beginnings, Trujillo feared that the character would have little success, because he assumed that it would not be well regarded by the public of the time, which was more used to a white and familiar humor. However, from his first appearances in the program La Caravana, Brozo was very well received, to such an extent that he became the most anticipated section of the program.

Brozo and Bozo

Bozo The Friendly Clown, a red-haired clown still on television in the 1970s, was a typical clown who told stories on television and provided wholesome entertainment for young people.

Brozo for his part has a decadent image, he is like a green-haired clown bitter, frustrated, and with great resentment.

However, in the program La Caravana (where Brozo appeared), they both meet and start joking with each other, in this program it is revealed that Brozo and Bozo are cousins, since the mother de Brozo (Broza María) is the sister of Bozo's mother (Bozanova).

Participation in Mexican television

He has worked for four television stations in Mexico, Imevisión, TV Azteca, CNI Canal 40 and Televisa.

Beginnings

The character of Brozo appears in 1988 in the program "La Caravana" for the amusement of the adolescent and adult public, his characteristic acid and heavy humor was expressed at that time in his way of telling stories:

Do you want me to tell you a story?
- No!..! He listened to choir.
- You want me to tell you a story?
- Noooo...!
- You want me to tell you a story?
- Noooo...!
- Well, he did. Amuelan 'Cause I'm gonna tell them anyway...

The stories narrated by Brozo were adaptations of classic stories and works, as well as movies and TV series, with flesh and blood characters and realistic situations, generally with a vision of the underworld and tragic situations. Some examples of these adaptations include El Soldadito del Pomo (The Tin Soldier), Peter Pants (Peter Pan), Don Cogito de La Mancha (Don Quixote de la Mancha), El Priscilito (The Little Prince) and King Sidas (King Midas).

Many of these stories are compiled in the book Dark Tales.

One of his characteristic phrases is "Prau, Prau", to refer mainly to sexual relations. However, it could also mean a beating or a great effort (although to a lesser extent), this is achieved according to the intonation applied to the phrase.

This phrase was coined by Trujillo at a time when it was not possible to talk directly about sex on Mexican television during prime time. Later and over time, Brozo left her aside as the opening on television gave him a pattern to talk about sex openly, although he occasionally uses it as a cliché of his character.

Brozo, the news anchor

The important stage of Brozo's existence was as a host. He was first a co-host of the program El Diario de la Noche, along with beba Galván and Víctor Trujillo, which included information on the show and part of political criticism, as part of Azteca television, later he was in the newscast known as El mañanero (first on the radio for many years and later on television), he managed to become a protagonist of political life and social del País (Mexico), with the Brozo suit, abandoned reserve and good customs, to question his guests about national events, directly and sometimes irreverently, achieving great empathy with his viewers. His guests included deputies, senators, governors, secretaries, etc. He also hosted El NotiFiero, a television news broadcast on Televisa's Las Estrellas channel on Fridays at 11:30 p.m. (Central Mexico time).

In 2010, after the launch of Foro TV on channel 4 in Mexico City, the host presented the new version of the program El mañanero, broadcasting Monday through Friday at 6:30 A.M., accompanied by Dr. Leopoldo de la Rosa and Marissa Rivera.

In 2018 he announced his presence in Grupo Acustik in which he returned to the news with his new program Informe Brozo broadcasting in the evenings from Monday to Friday, however it only lasted 7 months because in August the driver confirmed that no agreement was reached with the company.

Raising scandals

Within the curriculum, he also highlights having obtained the scoop for his newscast on the video scandal of René Bejarano, acting deputy and coordinator of the PRD in the Legislative Assembly of the Federal District, where Bejarano is allegedly responsible for acts of corruption by presenting live, on March 3, 2004, a video, previously delivered in the same program by the federal deputy of the PAN, Federico Döring, where Bejarano is observed, receiving wads of bills from the hands of the Argentine businessman, naturalized Mexican, Carlos Ahumada.
